I'm still not sure it explains how the horrors from the 70's era have returned and become "smart" again instead of merely amusing (which to me means that there's nothing in the stores right now that isn't for pointing and laughing at and not wearing). Of course, it might explain my reaction to them, considering that when I was theoretically learning to dress these things were "dowdy" at best.
