Feb. 3rd, 2005 06:02 pmWedding update:
I've gotten all but one invitation out. (I've been getting some lovely compliments on them!)
We've bought the cake. It's going to be Chocolate Fudge with maple leaves and bluebonnets.
We ordered the favors (bookmarks) and the napkins - both in gold on ivory. We ended up spending a good hour and a half, mostly chatting with the clerk about stuff that had nothing to do with the wedding.
We are going to Hawai'i (the big) island and stay in Volcano, just outside the national park. So far we have a Mauna Kea trip, a luau, a trip to a coffee plantation, and snorkeling on our list of activies, as well as shopping, sightseeing, and hiking around the park. Lots of hiking.
Sad news today - I asked a cousin to help me with the reception. The reception site is not available until 1 PM and the wedding happens at 1:30. EEP! So I asked Vicki to go to the site to make sure everything happens correctly.
I got a call this morning and Vicki's husband went in a couple of days ago for emergency surgery. He had something wrong with his colon (polyps? it ended up with gangrene) and the medicine he was taking for pneumonia (!) covered up the symptoms until it got critical. On top of that, they've found fluid build-up around his heart.
So I got a call this morning from Vicki's niece apologizing for Vicki not being able to help with the wedding. I have no problem with this at all, I just hope Vicki's husband pulls through this quickly and returns to full health.
