Backstory - I've tried to research my forebears a couple of times. I concentrated on my great-grandmother, since she was the relative I was closest to growing up (after my parents) and I heard a lot of stories from her childhood days. She also told me that I was descended from a "Spanish Princess" and a war hero. I've tried to find her father several times through what soundex records I had access to, but could never locate him. His name (according to Grandma Reed) was Ceasar Lowe and his wife's name was Ellen. You'd think this wouldn't be hard, would you? I was even fairly sure what county they would be in, although knowing Grandma Reed, I wouldn't have bet good money on it.
