Jul. 6th, 2005 10:23 amBob and I watched M this weekend. It is an outstanding movie by Fritz Lang, with Peter Lorre starring. ( It also happens to be the first german talkie.) The story is about a "serial killer". I won't say anything more about the plot, but pay attention to the subtext.
Yesterday we went looking for a funky shop to check out. Most of them were closed, so we ended up in a Vietnamese grocery store. There were things interesting, and sometimes frightening there. One of the more interesting finds was joss paper - paper you burn to send wishes to the gods. Most of the papers had asiatic designs on them, but one series was paper & decorations made to look like men's & women's shirts. Those were great. They had ties, bows, flowers around the neckline and looked just like a folded shirt in a shirt box.
The rest of the weekend was spent doing the checkbook thing, and unloading the MIL room. This room will be the entertainment/computer room, but first we have to get everything out of the main room, remove the carpet, paint the room and get new flooring. We did the easy stuff this weekend - now we have to put stuff up where we don't quite know were put it!
